I have Office 2016 and it is as slick as goose shit with no delays as 
you describe.  Only issue was an idiotic animation they did originally 
that "glided" the attention box to a new cell in Excel.  A great hue and 
cry occurred on the MS Office for Mac board (hosted by MS) and MS fixed 
it.  There was some other bizarre bug at some point where "freeze" rows 
wouldn't freeze.  Occurred after an update and was repaired at the next 
update or so.

Overall a vast improvement over 2008/2011 MS Office for Mac.
