Nope-that ain't it.  I don't want the app to open, period.  It will do 
this on a card by card (or device by device) basis; but will not be 
simply disabled.

As above.  As soon as it sees something new, it _will_ open.

Apple should have added another checkbox to keep Photos mute if desired.
