I agree - if the data is in a ".bin" file then it is probably some
proprietary storage container being interpreted by the application on
the DVD.

It is possible that the application is using QTVR via API calls, but
getting the QTVR elements out of the .bin file would require reverse
engineering its storage format (and you'd still not have the
interactive/menu elements).

This is similar in concept to multimedia content I have seen on audio
CDs back in the 1990s. One I recall was built using Macromedia Director,
which produced applications for Mac and Windows with an associated set
of data files.

More recently I've seen cross-platform educational software which
operates on a similar basis, but I don't recall the name of the
development tool offhand. It produced a PowerPC-only application for the
Mac version, which caused a problem for us when my partner's computer
(which was running Snow Leopard) needed to be replaced due to an
accident, and the new computer was running Mountain Lion.

In my investigation I found that the software was still being sold as a
PowerPC-only application in late 2012 or early 2013, even Macs sold for
almost two years were unable to run it. I don't think we ever bothered
to resolve it - we just didn't use the software any more.
