Scientific theories are not 'true' . They don't even tell you 'how stuff
works'
The only difference between Gravity and Cthonic Gods, was not that
gravity explained how things worked, because it didn't. It merely
allowed accurate predictins of which path falling things would take.
There are theories, and there are things.
Theories are imaginative sketches varying from Gods and Goddesses to
natural law, that all have one thing in common: they don't exist in the
'real world'.
They are postulated to exist in order to deduce from the postulates what
the real world ought to behave like *if they did in fact exist*.
But that fact that they work, is absoluteloy no guarantee that they
exist in the form we describe them
