  CHARFORMAT2 has hidden text functionality as of RichEdit 3.
TOM also has a Hidden property of ITextFont. The VB RTB
wraps RichEdit 1. You would need to use API version or a
3rd-party control. VBAccelerator has such a control. (The
source code of that one has the declarations for hidden text
but they didn't actually code the property.)

   I haven't done much with TOM. It's hard to see the
point if you're already into the API. It's a wrapper object
model which would inevitably reduce efficiency. But if you
have a working control without touching the API, and you're
not concerned about high efficiency, TOM would allow you
to access CHARFORMAT2 via a simple COM object model.
