  Who are these "Biotech companies" and what do they have to do with the
issues at hand (i.e. the "the scientific instrumentation", the "300+
scientific programs" and the "licensed software")?

  That you're familiar with that/your environment doesn't mean that 'we'
(TINW) are! Sofar, it's just unsubstantiated ranting.

posted about my background and what I use and why.

  I'm not biased towards Microsoft, but I object against unsubstantiated
bashing of anything/anyone. In this case you're bashing Microsoft (and
everybody else (IT, Biotech companies, me, did I miss anybody?)).

  If you're looking for support/sympathy for your rants, then this is
the wrong audience. alt.support.endusers.poor is over there ->
