That is what a live disk is for. Test your hardware for compatibility!

I was not advocating that you use Virtual Box to run Windows under Linux! 
Although my son for instance does just that. But you must have bucket 
loads of RAM. Doing the opposite (Linux in Windows) with Virtual Box or 
similar requires even more RAM and works much slower.

It seems you aren't familiar with Wine (or the Crossover environment 
which is built on it). Wine is not a virtual Windows. It just provides 
for all the windows applications you want to install all the libraries 
and structures they need for running. So as the name says W(ine)I(s)N(ot 
an)E(mulator).

However I am not pretending that Wine is easy to configure for your 
specific needs. However, the commercially available "Cross Over" package 
makes that process easier.

Of course, I don't pretend to know what special software you require.
I can only say that most windows applications have either Linux 
equivalents or many of them are available for multiple platforms.
For example, at work where I have to use Windows I still use Libre 
Office, Pale Moon, Gimp, VLC just to name a few of the multi platform 
applications.
