  Yes, a USB connection is perfectly fine and actually allows to access
more of the file system on the phone than many other methods.

  I use the Quick Share method only if I need to transfer only a few
files/folders and the phone is not connected via USB.

  BTW, both the USB (is MTP) method and the Quick Share method allows
you transfer files/folders from Android to Windows and vice versa, while
controlling the transfer from the Windows system, i.e. with a real
keyboard, big display and 'mouse'.
