Finally..after 8 days, an understanding of the process(preferred, MSFT

By following Lenovo's instructions,
- As noted earlier, those Lenovo instructions for the cab file are clear.
=> they only apply(as indicated in the Lenovo instructions) if trying
to activate Office prior to activating Windows(yes, one can install
Windows without activation, install and activate Office, then activate
Windows).
As you know understand, by wiping the device, your customer's device
was in 'almost' the same condition - the only difference was Windows(or
Tiny11) was or was not activated without Office present(the Office
preinstall was wiped with Windows) - the Lenovo instructions for
obtaining and using the cab file...which is obtained by downloading the
stub zip file that includes cssemerg97275.diagcab to initiate the
activation process(which is even more steps, since it has to figure out
how to activate something that is not present, find the product that
Lenovo linked to the device(or require the correct offline installer if
the cab file route can't obtain the CTR bits to download).
This isn't a Lenovo new method. It's consistent with past OEM
pre-installed Office(Lenovo and others - Office preinstalled, tied to the
device, but not activated)
If you look closely, at all the steps(1-7 really didn't apply[Windows
and Office were wiped)....Step 8 linked to a MSFT article on how to
activate a preinstalled version of Office on the device
- Step 8's linked instructions reiterated the need to activate Office
with the OEM preinstalled software using an MSA
"Activate an Microsoft 365 purchase or offer that's included on a new
Windows device"
- which is exactly why I explained how it should have been done :)
and a whole lot less effort.
