I'll just add to the comments here.. I really cannot fathom how you came to this line of 'reasoning'. I had a 2006 Mac Pro 'cheese grater' and until Mavericks it was able to run everything I threw at it. And honestly the only reason I ended up having it recycled was because it - after running 24x7x365x 7 YEARS it was starting to have overheat problems. Otherwise I'd probably still be using it instead of the 2012 model I bought in early 2013. My wife has a 2010 macbook that is running Mavericks now and I'll be upgrading to Yosemite soon.
