Octothorpe, you would have loved the Doze update that got pushed
onto my work laptop in the middle of what had been a productive
afternoon today without any advance notice.  I was working away
on two monitors, a full-screen VNC viewer with an X session on
one (1920x1200) monitor and Outhouse and Firefox and a couple
other things on the other (1920x1080) monitor, all placed and
sized for optimal productivity.  With _NO_ advance warning, both
monitors went black.  Then the VNC viewer showed up,
non-full-screen, mostly but not entirely in the other monitor,
with the Outhouse and Firefox windows a quarter (0.5x0.5)
original size behind the VNC viewer.  It looked like what might
have happened if the display settings had been changed to a
single 640x480 or maybe 1024x768 monitor and then changed back.

I screamed at a corporate IT droid, but the evidence indicates it
most likely got pushed in directly from Micky$oft.  When I shut
down the laptop to try to get a clean boot, it paused for a while
saying, "Configuring Windows Updates, ...", which doesn't happen
unless an update has been received.

In 13 years of using Linux at home, I am quite sure I have
_NEVER_ had a Linux update do anything like that.  I wish they
would let me use a Linux desktop, but corporate IT insists on
Mickey$oft laptops.
