I don't think there has been any limitation with the names of the C++ symbols, unless you're under some constraint dictated by the compiler / architecture. For sure C++ names, with mangling etc, can become a problem during the linking phase, especially when it comes to dynamic linking. But I'm still surprisied by how far the language went in making it consistent, to the point that such a huge complexity never defeats the tools you are provided with by the standard library. I think that's a great achievement Still, I like C more: it is *simple*. As for my day job I work as a C++ developer (for the most part, when I'm not botching on our stupid build system), and I'm mildly annoyed when I'm asked to make things more "c-plus-plussy", since it often means making it more complex for no good reason.
