Any suggestions? > Thanks! Sounds like a performance issue with the printing preprocessor. I have similar trouble since upgrading ghostscript a few years ago. I've made a few time-limited attempts at upgrading/downgrading things and trying to find exactly what introduced the high CPU load (unfortunately I didn't bother to try this until some time after the upgrade that caused the problems), but never nailed it down. Run top while printing and I suspect you'll find a "gs" process using up all of your CPU power. I find printing complex web pages from Firefox is far slower than from a PDF, for example. Presumably due to the conversions required. In fact web pages can take minutes or fail entirely (I use other computers for that where possible). If your printer supports Postscript printing, you can send a postscript file to it directly using "lp -o raw", this should print at full speed if my suspicions about your problem are correct. -- __ __ #_ < |\| |< _#
