Unless I'm going to be doing a lot of walking. Then I just carry a
small bag with my wallet, glasses, phone, keys and Chapstick. And maybe
water and a snack.

Wallet. Keys. 5 pens/pencils. 2 pair of glasses. Leathermen (big and
small) and other tools. Buck knife. 2 flashlights. Lipsticks.
Hairbrush. Magnifying glass(es). Phone. Paper 2-year datebook.
Camera sometimes. Nylon equivalents to the European string bag. Tablet
sometimes. Spare batteries. Charger. Styli. USB cable. Sometimes
water. Cat laser. I had one of those nifty tools that looks sort of
like a snowflake with a lot of screwdriver points and socket holes, but
it was too heavy. String. Sometimes kleenex. Cough drops. Cereal
bars. Thawed frozen peas to feed the koi sometimes. Set of keys I
hardly ever use but MIGHT need, like to my daughter's house and the car
that I haven't driven for at least a decade.

If I've ever needed something and not had it, I add it. I'm constantly
searching for the perfect bag. It would be like a messenger bag, but
with no flap, just a zipper. Lightweight, chest strap, multiple inner
sections, light-colored lining. Black, or maybe brown. I've come close,
but not close enough.
I used to carry ~50 pounds of tools in the trunk, but now I just have a
few wrenches and screwdrivers, pruners, a plug-in tire-inflator,
converter, windex, paper towels, some old Thomas Guides and a lot of
grocery bags.
