YANA. (With my XP laptop and the last TV I bought [small one for the 
bedroom], there was a piece of fairly stiff - but not adhesive, and not 
in contact with the screen - clear plastic; on the netbook I think it 
was stuck by four sticky patches, on the TV by pieces of tape. They 
remained on.

Especially in that case: they're arguably removing something you've paid 
for, and/or which could affect returnability. (Not that I'd accept that 
argument, but I'm sure that's in the back of his mind.)
