not being snarky here, it is called the Truth Trap by the FBI,

two people witness one event, but recall differently.

The FBI chooses who they want to believe, although both people
correctufully and truthfully tell them what happened.

Truth, is not Truth.

you confuse "lies" and "theory"

 Theory is built upon axioms, formal assumptions, lemmas.... if the
underpinning of them are shown to be false, the theory collapses.
