Okay, I bet you're right and it was book 3. It's been a LONG time and I would go to the gallows before reading it again. What sticks with me, now more than anything else, is the statemeent that _don_ is Cro-Magnon for "mother." It's Indo-European (many, many millennia later) for "river." -- Dorothy J.
