Das ist eine spezielle Art von radioaktivem Zerfall, die man "Elektroneneinfang" nennt. Dabei "fängt" der Kern ein Elektron ein. Als Ergebnis vermindert sich die Kernladungszahl um Eins. Außerdem wird ein Elektron-Neutrino freigesetzt. Das ist nötig, damit die Leptonenzahl erhalten bleibt. Wenn das Neutrino nicht die ganze Zerfallsenergie mitgenommen hat, wird der Kern in einen angeregten Zustand versetzt. Der Zerfall dieses angeregten Kernzustands setzt dann charakteristische Gammastrahlung frei. Da typischerweise eins der inneren Elektronen eingefangen wurde, gibt es im Anschluss elektronische Übergänge, bei denen die äußeren Elektronen die innere Lücke auffüllen. Dabei wird Röntgenstrahlung frei. Es kommt auch vor, dass die Energie ausreicht, um ein äußeres Elektron zu "befreien". Dieser Elektroneneinfang passiert nur, wenn der dadurch erreichte Endzustand mit umgewandeltem Kern eine niedrigere Energie aufweist als das Ausgangsatom. Das ist nur bei einigen wenigen Atomsorten (Isotopen) der Fall. Bei den Atomen, aus denen wir typischerweise aufgebaut sind, hätte der Endzustand eine deutlich höhere Energie. Vorgänge, die die Energie relevant erhöhen passieren aber grundsätzlich nicht einfach so. Das gilt für Golfbälle (die nicht spontan aus ihrem Loch springen) und es gilt für Elektronen und Atome. ---<)kaimartin(>---
