Fakt ist: Die Eingriffe in den Aufbau beim Bewegen des Stabes durch einen Experimentator ändern die kapazitiven Verhältnisse im Eingangskreis. Das führt zu einer Veränderung der Strom- und Spannungsverteilung und zu Ausgleichsvorgängen, die als das "Bewegungssignal" erscheinen. Der Versuch von Paul, in dessen Aufbau die Änderungen der kapazitiven Verhältnisse - insbesondere durch den Experimentator - vernachlässigbar sind, bestätigt mit dem Nullergebnis diese Tatsache: Keine Ausgleichsvorgänge im Eingang, also auch kein Signal im Ausgang. Der zweite Beleg ist der Modellversuch mit dem Drehkondensator, der bei kleinen Kapazitätsänderungen, wie sie im Eingangskreis auch im "Normalbetrieb" vorliegen, die "Bewegungssignale" reproduziert.
