The underlying support code for recognizers (which is not insignificant) must exist whether floating point is present or not. The question for Forth implementations is whether they can find enough Forth parsing uses beyond conventional needs such as f/p to justify the investment. IMO the issues recognizers solve are arcane enough not to warrant. If I were to provide recognizers for the 'one in a million' times I needed it would be in the form VFX did - as a loadable add-on that's patched into the system via an existing hook.
