I repeat: The dec alpja has an overflow flag that will be triggered by suitable opcodes that do NOT discard the value of that flag but write it, so you can test it in the next instructions. The dec alpha had already disappeared when Carmody brought that bright idea... Six and half years later and it has not been rebuilt... Other processors (risc machines) do the same.
