Is this approach worthwhile? I think the trouble with this is that C's signal handling is very weak. It would be hard work to do anything more useful than report the issue and exit. There's also the problem that on architectures which don't have signal-raising integer operations you might pay the price of checking all sort of perfectly innocent arithmetic operations so some mechanism to limit the scope of the checking would be useful. -- Ben.
