If you need a language which has a compiler for given platform, you want it fast, you want it small, you want it malleable enough to fit around any interface, then C may not only be at the top of the list, but also at the bottom! Or you have to deal with C because third party libraries use it for their code, headers and documentation. Or the the OS heavily makes use of it, such that you can't prise the two apart (eg. Linux). Then, why not bash it if someone is not happy with some aspects? Sometimes you can't 'use something different'. -- Bartc
