As we have discussed many, many, many times, there are lots of properties that are not intrinsic that ARE affected by observation. Speed is the simplest example. As we have agreed, speed is not an intrinsic property of the object. So then the question simply is, what are the properties that are intrinsic and which are the properties that are extrinsic? This is not a matter that is settled by definition or assertion. It's not like you just point to a property and say, "I declare that this property is DEFINED to be intrinsic and therefore is absolute and independent of observer." Instead, one lays down the operational minimum requirements for measuring that property, regardless of reference frame, and then one leaves it to observational result: Is the result of this measurement the same in all reference frames, or is it not the same? If it is the same, then by force of OBSERVATION, it is intrinsic. If it is not the same, then by force of OBSERVATION, it is extrinsic. To recapitulate this for the case of the property length, it does absolutely no good to insist that length is DEFINED to be intrinsic and therefore absolute. Instead, one specifies the minimum requirements of making the observational measurement that will work regardless of reference frame. Here the procedural minimum is straightforward: one records AT THE SAME TIME the locations of the ends of the object against a standard measuring stick or scale. The key words are "AT THE SAME TIME", in order to make this procedure work independent of reference frame. When this procedure is actually followed, you learn (according to our process for distinguishing extrinsic from intrinsic properties) that length is an extrinsic property. Now, Henry, you may wish to dispute that the procedural minimum prescription for measuring length is the right one, possibly because it doesn't give the result that you would like to see. In this case, feel free to specify an alternative procedural minimum for measuring length that works regardless of reference frame, and which when followed will yield the result that the length measurement shows that property to be intrinsic. Remember, no decrees, no arguments from logic.
