question, you decide you won't get the answer anyway, and you put your 
question up somewhere that is guaranteed not to produce the answer?

I'm not a LIGO collaborator. Asking me is like asking a hardware store 
clerk about clinical trials data for a pharmaceutical product.

Wait, you don't know that yet. That's the question you're asking, and 
you don't have the answer to it yet. How do you arrive at asserting the 
truth of an answer you don't have?
