Our 3M telescopes can just see distant galaxies if they take ten minute photos. Light from every galaxy in the universe passes through every point in the universe but because it is quantized, and moves so quickly, even the total contribution from 10 billion galaxies doesn't amount to much. Besides, direction enters the equation too. If you were suddenly dropped into remote space, it would be very black everywhere around you unless you were close to a galaxy. The Pointed Pinhead aka Paul Draper, Odd Bodkin, Gary Harnagel, IRC and numerous other names is a complete idiot.
