So the statement you're making is that, because galaxies have been
observed where we didn't know they existed before, then this calls into
question EVERY density measurement made anywhere. This is ridiculous.
We know for example, that we discover new species of fish at the bottom
of the ocean, where we have poor measurements of the variety of species.
And on this basis you would say that, for all we know, there are lots of
unknown fish species in ponds and lakes in Iowa?

Sorry, but this doesn't change anything. Yes, solar wind quantities
aren't EXACTLY known, and yes, recent measurements have increased the
density of the solar wind -- but by a relatively small amount. And what
this means is that further increments will be smaller still, and ALL of
those are not going to be enough to account for bending of light to the
degree you claim.

What YOU would accept is IRRELEVANT. It's a cheap spluttering objection
to say we haven't measured the density of space beyond the solar system
because we've never sent someone out there with a sampling box.
