Here in New York State, the state-issued photo ID, either driver's license or non-driver ID, also shows a copy of the signature used to apply for it. What bothers me even more about New York's voter registration process than the ID business is that application does not require any proof of citizenship, other than checking a box on the form. The photo ID doesn't prove it, unless it's the more expensive "enhanced" version - which didn't exist until a few years ago. The Board of Elections just takes your word for it. I see no need to prove your citizenship at the voting booth every time you vote, but registration is another matter. Unless, of course, they change the law so that US citizenship is no longer required. TJ
