Maybe NTFS simply is faster than ext4 for large files. DFS should try copying large directory hierarchies with hundreds or thousands of files. It wouldn't suprise me if "Linux" finished copying them while Explorer was still "Preparing to copy files". By the way, DFS may be violating the terms of his Windows EULA by publishing bench-marks on it :-) Just teasing, of course.
