They were fleeing Communism and through hard work and no hand-outs whatsoever, they managed pretty well for themselves. It disgusts me to see people on welfare having had more of an opportunity than my parents but sucking money from the state instead. Meanwhile, the state gives them whatever they want because they keep acting as though they were somehow treated unfairly. Over here, their rent and bus pass is paid as is most of their heating bill. They're allowed to work as long as it doesn't pay more than 200$ a week which means that they get 800$ net without needing to pay the kinds of bills we all have to to have those same luxuries.
