More correctly, they just don’t want to lose a ton of money doing it. Development isn’t free. Support isn’t free. > Panic apparently were not > making enough so they've dropped it. My read remains that Unison was a labor of love from someone inside Panic, and they tried to make it available to other people at a great price for all the features offered (provided the features they added were the same ones you wanted), but the market just wasn’t big enough to cover the increased support burden. I doubt they ever came even *close* to breaking even, never mind “making enough”. > Recently someone suggested he would come up with a very nice up to date > usenet reader but wanted crowdsource funding up front. Not many takers. That guy was an idiot. He knew Usenet hasn’t been popular for *years* and yet he still spent his time writing an alpha version *actually* up front. Now he has nothing to show for his effort except getting a good chuckle out of how many times this thread keeps popping up. -- "Also . . . I can kill you with my brain." River Tam, Trash, Firefly
