My doc checker is run as part of periodic.daily.  Now I can't remember 
what makes periodic run.  I think it is probably a system LaunchDaemon. 
  However, periodic is what generates the system reports among other 
things.  As I recall that is simple enough to get started.  It is 
routing the output to non-local mail that is the problem.
