In den USA hat man sich schon kurz nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg Gedanken um Farbfernsehen gemacht und auch entsprechende, zueinander und je nach System zum bestehenden S/W-System inkompatiblen Standard gewählt. Mit rd. 4400 rpm rotierende Farbscheibe mit mindestens dem Radius des Bildröhrendurchmessers vor der Bildröhre, Linse dahinter damit das Bild nicht ganz so winzig war, etc. Die Leute, die sich für teuer Geld sowas gekauft hatten, hatten das Nachsehen, als sich gezeigt hat, dass ein anderer Hersteller das Rennen machte. Bei uns hat es bis weit in die 1960er Jahre hinein gedauert, bis wir mit dem Farbfernsehen gestartet sind. Da wiederholte sich die Geschichte: Mit dem S/W-TV war das nicht anders: Firmen wie Philips hatten in den umliegenden Ländern (Frankreich, UK) schon vor dem Krieg Erfahrung mit TV gesammelt. Durch die kriegsbedingte Unterbrechung hatten wir den Vorteil, dass wir aus den Fehltritten der anderen Länder lernen konnten. Lief beim Farb-TV genauso, weswegen wir PAL hatten. Laufzeitverzerrungen, die sich in einer Farbtonänderung gezeigt hatten, hat man damals entweder in Kauf genommen oder nicht berücksichtigt. PAL ist im Übrigen nicht so weit weg vom NTSC-System was die signaltechnische Umsetzung betrifft. Herr Bruch hat im Wesentlichen das NTSC-System dahingehend erweitert, dass er den Phasenwinkel des Farbträgers nach jeder Zeile um ±90° umgeschaltet hat, weswegen sich Farbänderungen unterm Strich über zwei Zeilen hinweg kompensiert haben. Hat natürlich auch mehr Aufwand beim Empfängerbau gemacht. Da ist es rückblickend einfach von Fehlkonstruktion zu sprechen. Hinterher is man immer schlauer, ne? > Die Verbreitung von (Farb) TV soll aber in den USA viel früher angefangen > haben als hier. Vielleicht liegt's daran. Ja, definitiv.
