Did you try changing the interface? There's a stupid udev script which
associate an interface with the MAC address, so if you had wlan0, when
you use a different card it will become wlan1. Wicd is still trying to
use wlan0, so you don't see any networks. I get burned by this
idiocy when I clone a system to another computer. See
/lib/udev/rules.d/*persistent*.
