For instance I proposed a routine to test if a list is circular. It involves examining all the list. If a library (like the C Containers library) would do that, its performance would be close to zero. And please do not forget that the routine to test the circularity of a list`has its OWN preconditions too: the "next" pointers must be valid. There is a point where testing everything becomes such a burden that it is practically impossible and you *HAVE* to just write it down in the documentation only.
