Have you not considered that such a short-sighted outlook and resulting
poor customer service is likely _why_ your company is laying off
employees?  My employer has been on a hiring spree for the last several
years, and we're raking in record profits.  How do we do that in a bad
economy?  By making products that are /higher quality/ than our
competitors and offering great customer service.  We don't kludge around
problems; we /fix/ them.

With that attitude, no, there's probably not; I sure as heck wouldn't
want to hire you.
