I'm subscribed to a number of forums, with f'rinstance https://ifnotnil.com
being a typical example. I have to say that their layout and navigation appear
to me to be strange and haphazard. I compare them to phpBB that I used in
earlier times, where it seemed a lot easier to see what threads there were,
which ones had unread messages, and the whole set fitted onto one screen with
ease (itself being smaller than modern screens, too). What has changed to make
these more recent apparitions be preferred?
