Usenet is not provided by Google, and long pre-dates them. Google merely 
operates a web to Usenet bridge, which allows people to use a web 
browser to read and post into Usenet. People usually find a Usenet 
client such as Thunderbird easier to use, and certainly quicker.

Ignoring them is even easier if you use a Usenet client. You can tell 
the client to ignore postings from certain individuals (known as 
kill-filing them for historical reasons).
