Quotations: “abc xyz” (U-Code: 201c, 201d) Ich habe Dich schonmal mit der ISO-8859-15 erwischt, die ähnlich ist zu ISO-8859-1, mit einigen kleinen Änderungen. So hat die auf der Adresse U+a4 ein „€“, wo tatsächlich ein „¤“ sein sollte. Das kann man so machen, ist aber eine Krücke, denn während ISO-8859-1 noch kompatibel zum Unicode ist (ist Teilmenge dessen), so ist es die ISO-8859-15 eben darum nicht. Andererseits war diese Krücke notwendig, so lange man kein Unicode verwenden kann. Grundsätzlich aber hätte man diese Methode sogar standardisieren können, denn das okkupierte Zeichen bedeutete: „Einfach nur Geld, egal welches.“ Aus diesem unbestimmten Währungszeichen ein bestimmtes solches zu machen ist zwar mutig, aber kann man gelten lassen. Ganz übel machte es übrigens die Firma Windoof - die haben in ihrer CP-1252 (nahezu identisch mit ISO-8859-1) kurzerhand den Euro auf U+a0 gelegt – WAS FÜR EIN VERBRECHEN!!! U+a0 ist nämlich das harte (vor dem Zugriff des Zeilenumbruch geschützte (englisch: non-breaking)) Leer- zeichen! Da gehört GAR NICHTS drauf – nicht einmal das Portrait von Bill Gates! Ohne zu wissen wie Du es machst könnte ich mir vorstellen, daß Du grundsätzlich auf ISO-8859-1 konfiguriert hast, dem bisher gültigen Standard für West-Europa. Wenn ja, dann schaltet Dein System auto- matisch um auf die ISO-8859-15, wenn im Text ein Euro vorkommt, da dieses Zeichen im ISO-8859-1 (siehe oben) nunmal nicht enthalten ist. Aktuell hat Du mir aber in Unicode (UTF-8) geantwortet, weil die deutschen Gänsefüßchen weder mit ISO-8859-1 noch mit ISO-8859-15 darstellbar sind. Und das ist state of the art: Chapeau! Die ältere Methode besteht darin, daß man fremde Zeichen, die im eigenen Zeichensatz nicht dargestellt werden können, adäquat substituiert. Sende ich zum Beisoiel ein „abc“, und kriege statt dessen ein "abc" zurück, so wäre dies zwar nicht schön, aber doch immerhin unangreifbar.
