I agree to a point. Uniform initialisation will undoubtedly be enhanced
in later standards (there already are improvements in C++14). The
initialiser list syntax is part of the language proper, with exiting
language mechanisms utilised to make it work for on-code objects.
The real advantages from a C++ programmer's perspective derive from the
"uniform" part of uniform initialisation. Being able to use the same
syntax to initialise an array and a standard container is a bit plus.
It enables compound literal like syntax where a function parameter is a
container, for example s function like
foo( std::vector<int> );
can be called with
foo( {1,2,3,4} );

That is somewhat messy as well.. An explicit initialiser list would
have to be used. But if this were C++ code, the idiomatic solution
would be to have an object with a constructor.

More of an lvalue/rvalue difference.

While a desirable outcome, I doubt it would happen now C++ has added
uniform initialisation the possibility of ambiguities would be too
great. I'm sure before C++11 the case could (and probably was) made,
but the C++ community was looking for something with broader scope - a
common syntax for initialisation of built in and user defined types.
