I think the fact that Mail says it is using APOP and the password is
incorrect points to settings not being correct. Could it be you have
multiple Mail accounts configured for this server, and the log messages
are actually from a duplicate account rather than the one you happen to
be looking at in Mail Preferences > Accounts?
