I know; that's what is so puzzling.  Before writing to these groups
about this problem, I changed the password for the server, and then
changed it on all three of my devices (iMac, iPad, and iPhone); I wrote
the password on paper and then copied it to each device.  So I know
that I'm using the correct password.

No I haven't because I'm using the same settings on all three devices.
