The problem is on the accounts that are not associated to any phone or tablet. I have one such, from times before Android existed. And it is the only one that got that email notice. The question gets sent to the gmail account (which can not see it, as it was blocked) and to the recovery mail accounts. Then I have to use firefox to login and say "yes, that was me". Happens to me using Alpine and postfix (Linux), not Thunderbird. As there is no associated android device, it is not possible to activate 2FA, and thus I can not use application passwords, google doesn't activate the method. -- Cheers, Carlos.
