Also, something like this can do the actual insert for you, without
requiring a paste:
anon@lowtide:~/code/xdotool$ cat begin_dialogue
#!/bin/bash
scriptname="snit.tex"
string="\begin{dialogue}{}"
scriptid=$(xwininfo -tree -root |grep ${scriptname} |awk '{print $1}')
xdotool type --window ${scriptid} ${string}
anon@lowtide:~/code/xdotool$
And you can use that as a skeleton for any other string. Just change
the scriptname and string to suit.
