It's manual, but you could automate it. You could have launcher buttons
for each string, where the launcher commands are similar to:

echo '\begin{dialogue}{}'|xsel -ib
echo '\begin{dialogue}{}'|xsel -ip
anon@lowtide:~$
Then you just click that launcher button and follow it with a
paste, either Edit->paste, or middle-click, and it would insert
'\begin{dialogue}{}' into your text. Then you just add the character's
name between the empty brackets. You could also add a launcher to build
and open the pdf, so you could get a quick look at your changes.
I'll set something up in Mate later and vid it and you'll see better
how it can work.
