I'm mostly with you, but I would still want to say that because I don't fully know, I can't fully conclude. For me, cautious behaviour is always the best approach. The same way that I'd build walls around a coast to protect from potential waves or tsunamis, I'd build a wall around my country to protect from dangerous criminals. I don't think anyone is wrong to want to prepare for an "what if" situation.
