Perhaps playing devil's advocate a bit, but why do you assume that 
young people are incapable of learning and using working, 
established systems? Having worked closely with new contributors on 
various projects, many fresh out of school, I think you do them a 
disservice in implying that they will only use flashy new 
technologies.

Yes there are lazy and incompetent people in any generation, but I 
learned to use the technologies of my predecessors and capable 
people of later generations are definitely able to do the same. 
Let's avoid making ageist generalizations about "the next 
generation" and focus on actual challenges to accessibility and 
usability instead.
