The point was that they may look impressive in the shop ... but once
you pay the over-bloated price and get it home it won't look any
different to your current "HD TV" or even your old CRT TV if watching
old re-runs (in some cases the image may even be worse than those since
LCD screens are not very good at displaying non-native resolutions).

It's similar to cars - a Ferrari may have impressive acceleration and
speed, but on most normal roads you'll quickly end up with massive
fines for using it that way and with almost no luggage space it isn't
particularly good as a daily driver, so you may as well stick with your
old Honda which is cheaper and works just as well within those
boundaries and better in some ways.

As someone else posted, UltraHD / 4K / 8K TV is little more than
bragging rights to claim you've got the "latest and greatest" toy on
the block.
