Plug any USB item in upside down, and nothing will happen. This is 
because of how the connector is laid out. Electrically speaking, it'll 
be exactly the same as plugging in a piece of cardboard. Someone MAY be 
able to jam it into the socket (whether right side up or upside down) in 
such a way as to cause physical damage, but a USB plug can only make 
electrical connection with the socket it's being plugged into when the 
plug is "right side up".
