nope. usually you take a usb stick to the apple store and use one of
their macs. there is no need to bring your own (although you certainly
can).

apple doesn't sell it that way anymore, and for very good reason.
nobody wants it that way.

it's not ridiculous at all and the number of people who don't have a
high speed link is not enough to bother offering a dvd or other medium.

it's a huge step forward. 

no longer must someone keep track of where they put the dvd and the
restore partition will always down load the latest, saving the user
from having to then do multiple updates right after installing.

stop living in the past.
